America’s FAFO Choice: “A Distinction Without A Difference”

“By the way, they never report the crowd on Janury 6*. You know Nikki Haley, Nikki Haley, Nikki Haley. You know they — do you know they destroyed all of the information, all of the evidence, everything, deleted and destroyed all of it. All of it, because of lots of things like Nikki Haley is in charge of security — we offered her 10,000 people, soldiers, national guards, whatever they want. They turned it down. They don’t want to talk about that. These are very dishonest people.”

Never mind the lies inherent in that ramble – that he ever tried to do anything to stop the January 6th coup attempt, or that Nancy Pelosi was in charge of security…

… oh wait …

Did he say Nikki Haley? Four times?

Why yes, yes he did. He was attacking Nikki Haley, his rival for the GOP nomination, and mind-slipped into conflating her with Nancy Pelosi, whom he did not name but was clearly the subject. Perhaps this is just what happens when you have nothing in your repertoire but lies and hate. It becomes hard to track the lies, or to make distinctions about the current target of the hate from one sentence fragment to the next. Or, maybe the simpler answer is dementia. Hard to say, really, and perhaps not important as either cause is sufficiently disqualifying for him to have access to nuclear codes.

If he was asked about his mind-slip, which he was not, he might have said something like, “Doesn’t matter. Doesn’t matter. And anyway I didn’t say it. But if I did, it just doesn’t matter, because, let me tell you something, they are one and the same. The same person. They both have saggy boobs and dried up pussies, and, I mean, they’re just bad people. Bad, bad people. Very dishonest. And not nice to me. Not nice at all. And we need to do something about that. Something like the world has never seen.”

But there was an official campaign response that said pretty much the same thing, minus the rambling and crudity. A senior DoTard campaign adviser, Chris LaCivita, posted an eXcrete on Saturday, “Nancy ….Nikki ….its a distinction without a difference.” Right, there is no difference between your nomination rival who is a conservative Republican and was your hand-chosen UN Ambassador (and who was not in office nor in Washington on January 6th), versus the former Speaker of the House, a liberal Democrat, who was there at the Capitol but was not in charge of security, and had her office occupied while DoTard’s followers called for her assassination.

There is no difference between those two people at all, right? But there is one definite similarity: neither one of them was responsible for Capitol security, and neither one of them received an offer for 10,000 soldiers from DoTard.

GOP representative Elise Stefanik, desperate to become DoTard’s running mate, was quick to clarify why DoTard’s brain fart is a non-issue. She came up with this surreal response: “The reality is Nikki Haley is relying on Democrats, just like Nancy Pelosi, to try to have a desperate showing.” I’m not sure what this means in English, but the fact that it’s gibberish in the service of deflection will not be important to DoTard followers.

And the beat goes on… La-de-da-de-de, la-de-da-de-da…

* After re-reading DoTard’s ramble, it just dawned on me that it reveals yet another mind-slip. He says “They never report the crowd on January 6”, a phrase that makes no sense at all. The crowd (AKA “mob”) on January 6th is the whole point of that story, so of course “they” report on it, and regularly. It was the focus of a public Congressional investigation that went on for months. So, what could DoTard have meant by that? I propose that he started off babbling about how “they” never report on the size of his rally crowds… then he mind-slipped into January 6th… and then he mind-slipped into Pelosi… then he mind-slipped into Haley. Syphilitic dementia, anyone?
