This is utter insanity. The principal way overstepped the line:
A high school senior in Louisiana was stripped of her student government president title and scholarship opportunities after a video circulating on social media showed the 17-year-old girl dancing with friends at a party last week.”
“They basically told me that I should be ashamed of myself,” Timonet told a local news outlet. “That I wasn’t basically following God’s ideals, which made me cry even more.”
The high school senior said that she was called into the principal’s office, and was made to watch the video of her dancing after she was informed that he was no longer endorsing her for a scholarship. The principal told Timonet that he “questioned her faith” after he saw the clip, according to the teen.
“They were just having fun,” Timonet’s mother said. “She should not be questioned or spoken about faith at all. It’s a public school, not a private school.”
I also found this, which says that after taking leave of absence the headteacher will be retiring from the Livingston Parish School system altogether. They broke the original story so it might be correct.
The school doesn’t bother me so much, it’s just the principal of the thing!
Somebody correct me if I’m wrong but I think not all so called Evangelicals are against dancing, just the really extreme ones such as Pentacostals.
The principal has taken a leave of absence. Apologized to the student. Etc etc. Also said they would reinstate the needed endorsement for her to get some scholarship but unfortunately the deadline to submit the scholarship application had already passed so their “endorsement” is pointless. The mom is beyond pissed and talking to an attorney. The school (principal?) f’d up big time and are now scrambling to cover their derrières. What is wild is if you see the video of her dancing. Not scantily clad. Not lascivious by any stretch of the imagination. She’s dancing with a whole group of kids, who in true teen fashion, are just milling about waving their arms to and fro and having a good time. The video was taken by the DJ who was spinning the records for the party and it literally shows a bunch of wholesome, healthy kids having a good time with absolutely nothing suggestive or tawdry. I swear to god that principal must have been on drugs to react like he did or maybe he’s mentally ill.
HistoryDoctor:
Please let us know if you find any follow-up stories. I hope the principal gets fired and/or sued.
The day my mommy socked it to the Harper Valley PTA. Jeanie C. Riley
If someone were to investigate that principal’s private life, I’m sure they’d discover some much bigger sins than dancing! Sanctimonious “holier-than-thou” moralizers are always hypocrites.

This is an example of the real “cancel culture”!
Poor child.
I hope she gets alternative opportunities, and Karma bites that idiot school principle, real hard.
In UK schools, in a few instances, there’s been an excessive backlash against “slack, lefty” rules , but not with the added stupidity of religion. Luckily, for some reason, it doesn’t seem to thrive here.
This story really pisses me off. The ACLU should be all over this.
Isn’t it the case in the USA that public schools have to be “neutral” and thus, shouldn’t the principle be the one getting disciplined?
Evangelical Christians see dancing as evil. At my high school graduation their whole cult walked out once the dance started. We used to have a joke about that, it went like this…
Q: Why don’t evangelicals have sex standing up?
A: it might lead to dancing!😅
